Local Golf Club Bucking overseas Trends

The Rotary Club of Kapiti recently had the privilege of hearing at first hand, some of the good work that the Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club has accomplished in recent times, which has resulted in a significant increase in tourist numbers to the Kapiti Coast, and subsequent benefits to members.

The Manager of the Golf Club, Leo Barber, provided information relating to New Zealand and international golfing trends, whereby examples of membership losses and club closures in New Zealand and in USA, and even the home of golf Scotland, are worrisome. Notwithstanding, our local Club has taken significant measures to improve facilities and service to retain existing and attract new members. A keen interest in attracting international travellers, has resulted in a sharp increase in visitors and participants alike. A very recent release of a professional aerial promotional video, has seen a collective reach of  60,000 views already, and much comment from offshore people who have shown interest in wanting information on visiting, playing golf, and holidaying on the Kapiti Coast.
