Opening thought:

Alone we can do so little;
Together we can do so much.
- Helen Keller

Parting thought:
I feel a very unusual sensation: if it is not indigestion, I think it must be gratitude.
- Benjamin Disraeli

Sponsors Recognition - President Ross

President Ross warmly welcomed a number of the sponsors who support our work and make so much good in the community possible: we literally couldn't do it without their help.

Jamie Hanna from Totalspan Wellington - Horowhenua is a new sponsor and has generously supported Fish For Good. He is now sponsoring the kiosk at the Golf for Good mini golf course. Jamie is very keen to be involved in the community and support our initiatives.

Trevor Moss and Gordon Barratt from Steel-it have sponsored Golf for Good; Fish for Good; Pension Day. Steel-it is proud to be a part of our projects. They design and build everything from workbenches to major projects such as colleges and hospitals.

Ian Mills from El Rancho asked if our club could help them when they had 16 piles of wood 8ft high and 15ft across. It had to be gone by a certain date or it was going to be set on fire. Together with many helpers, we cleared it on time and now they are ready to do another huge tree felling exercise and we will be asked to help again.

Warren Herlihy from Kāpiti Golf Club; they had lots of wood for splitting and have dropped 17 more trees. He is very happy to support us and the work we do in our community both domestic & international.

Jade Darbyshire from Elite Arboriculture just likes giving back to the community.

We are also grateful to all our other sponsors, including Sotheby's (who have raised significant funds with us over the past 2 years and are now sponsoring Golf For Good), Pak n Save and New World.

Gary spoke about the support the sponsors' generosity provides to the dental project in Taveuni.

Thanks very much everyone for the speedy responses to the request for Foodbank collection volunteers. Update: all slots have now been filled.

Ian

Ian has 6 numbers left for Lucky Lotto - please contact him to participate. This will raise money for the Foundation Committee to go to Polio Plus. In 2022-23, the world was down to 2 cases! Wars in Gaza, Ukraine etc mean, sadly, polio is on the increase again. It spreads so quickly, including in countries that have been polio-free for decades.

Ian was also sporting a lovely set of prescription sunglasses he can't see through: his polaroids apparently got left behind at Ross's BBQ and the prescription ones were given to him thinking they were his - happy if he could reunite with his own if someone has them by mistake?? It is a good look for Ian: a bit like a pilot from Top Gun.

Guess Who's Coming for dinner was evidently very enjoyable for those who participated. Thank you to Roger for organizing it (must have been like herding cats!) and to all the hosts.

Welcome back, Ingrid!
5 minute speaker - Ruth Lacombe-Post

Ruth spoke about her meditation journey during her time in India with such wonderful teachers as His Holiness The Dalai Lama. A simple exercise of just closing your eyes and concentrating on the breaths through your nose had us all feeling very much more relaxed.
She would do this for 11 hours a day - a lesson in self discipline!
