NOTICES

Foodbank Collection
Wow what a great day on Saturday for the Foodbank Collection.
Gorgeous sunny day, generous public and wonderful Kapiti Rotarians!
Our grateful thanks to the all those members, partners and a past member, who gave up their time to man the Supermarkets.
We had a record day with 355 boxes collected and we still the trailer at Pak n’Save for another week. Also a record amount of cash was donated in the buckets.
We must especially mention Bruce Morgan who stepped in at the last moment and did two shifts, back to back. Also our dedicated pick-up teams of Vince Indo & Murray Bell and Alistair Beissel & Chris Tchernegovski. These guys work tirelessly all day.
Thank you one and all. We couldn’t do it without your support.
Richard & Dave

Upcoming Speakers & Events

Last week's meeting

Elaine Westlake 5 minute Speaker
Spoke about some of her international travel experiences includes walking the mudflats to Lindis Fram in England, and the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
Guest Speaker: Martin Garcia – Chair Rotary Foundation district 9940
Martin explained the purpose and mission of the Rotary Foundation. He described the various types of foundation grants that were available and how they are to be used. The Foundations priorities include:
  • Saving mothers and children
  • Fighting disease
  • Providing clean water, sanitation, hygiene
  • Supporting the environment
  • Growing local economies
  • Supporting education
  • Eradicating polio – in 2020 140 wild polio cases recorded, in Afghanistan and Pakistan. So far this year only 2 cases have been reported.

Unfortunately, the District’s donations to the Foundation have being falling over the past couple of years. As a consequence, changes have being made to global funds to reduce the amount of funding available.
