Last weeks speaker Brian Lynch ONZM, member of Rotary Wellington South has had a long and illustrious career in the diplomatic corps, and senior roles in the export and voluntary sectors.

Brian told us many hilarious stories of mishaps in his MFAT days. Highlights included escorting Princess Anne, who had a mind of her own; trial by chili in Singapore; writing the best speech PM Norman Kirk never gave; an avalanche of large American women nearly sweeping PM Robert Muldoon off the Great Wall of China; and taking Mrs Muldoon to a show and a tour of the men's toilets. Brian's epitaph may well be what PM Muldoon once said of him: Hanging's too good for Mr Lynch!
