Kapiti Rotarian of 14 years since arriving in Kapiti off his Sthn. Hawkes Bay farm, Doug Hooper Smith receives a Paul Harris Sapphire Pin for his outstanding contribution to Rotary -one of the organisations highest recognitions.Doug has established and managed many fund raising projects over the years for the club including numerous firewood working bees, Otaihanga wetlands, preparing meals at Ronald McDonald House, daffodils off his family farm for schools fundraising, trailer raffle.
Hilary has stood beside him all the way. Ever humble, Doug reckons it has been a two way street, with Rotary giving him opportunities, fellowship, and an avenue to contribute to his community.
