How we can help with the measles epidemic in Samoa.

You can help best by contributing to the Apia Rotary Club’s efforts on the ground via the Rotary New Zealand RNZWCS website (http://RNZWCS.co.org) or Rotary New Zealand’s give-a-little page https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/measles-rotary-nz-support-appeal.  The Rotary Club of Apia is actively supporting the local community by providing such items as beds and mattresses for the emergency isolation wards at the central hospital as Samoa struggles to deal with the crisis. But more is needed.

District 9940 is helping the Rotary Club of Apia Club to provide further urgent help to families affected by the measles through Rotary New Zealand (RNZWCS Ltd) which has launched a national appeal with an initial funding of $20,000.
Disaster in Kenya – An appeal from Robin Corner
On 21 Nov there was a major disaster in Kenya close to the orphanage school my wife and I
have been supporting, and which I’ve spoken about at a couple of Rotary meetings. If you
have 2 mins free check it out:
https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-africa-50606415/kenya-flash-floods-what-i-saw-after-
landslides-in-west-pokot
At the last count I’ve seen, 132 people have been killed, mostly buried alive in mudslides and some
in a bus which dropped from a bridge into a swollen river. Approximately 120,000 people have been
displaced, with many having had their homes swept away or damaged. I have done a lot of church
work in the area, including recently some basic training of local people to join relief teams. Some of
our church members do live in the disaster area, and others in surrounding areas are keen to help.
We need finances to buy building materials, food, clothing, temporary shelters, blankets etc.
Any contributions, no matter how small would be appreciated.
