Another entertaining and heart warming evening at Kapiti Rotary with Otaki College’s inspirational principal Andy Fraser extolling the clubs role in assisting a number of his students on the Spirit of Adventure and Outward Bound programmes, remarking the profound positive change the experience has had on them. It was delightful to have Rawiri and Quinn relate their stories abut how they found unrealised potential and made many friends with whom they continue to network .
This was followed by Paul Newsome and Michelle Simpson from the Hutt Valley club representing the District’s RYLA programme. They explained how the club has greatly enjoyed and benefitted from hosting the Rotary Youth Leadership Award programme and the evident life changing effects for both the 18-24 y/old participants and those members directly involved.
We were then entertained and utterly impressed by Liam’s oratory relating his RYLA experience, the impact it has had on his life and the reason he continues to lead and advocate the programme to other youth. For applications and more on RYLA https://www.ryla9940.co.nz/home
